Jupiter, April 26, 2019

I managed to catch a calm atmosphere on the night of April 25-26, 2019. Jupiter already appears earlier. The duration of the shooting is limited on the one hand by the neighbor’s house, and on the other side by the tree, so I’ll process what I have time to shoot in an hour. During this hour, the atmosphere has time to change several times, especially after overcoming the height of the planet at 20 degrees. What is the reason for this? I don’t know, maybe with the heat flows of a neighboring house, or by overcoming a certain air layer at a certain height. During this hour, I managed to shoot Jupiter color and monochrome cameras, as well as record several R \ G \ B series, as well as test the methane filter ZWO CH4 in more detail.

Equipment:
-Celestron NexStar 8 SE
-Barlow lens cell NPZ 2x
ZWO ADC
-filter ZWO IR-cut
-camera ZWO 290 MC (50 fps)
Processing: PIPP, Autostakkert (1000 frames from 4502), Registax 6.
Location: Russia, Anapa, backyard.

Of course, with such a small elevation, the ZWO ADC dispersion corrector helps out. Without it, the resolution falls several times. The corrector works on all apertures, but its effect becomes more noticeable on apertures from 150-200 mm.

I also captured Jupiter with a QHY5III178m monochrome camera and RGB Meade filters. A Barlow Sky-Watcher 2x lens unit was installed in front of the filter wheel.

Shooting on a monochrome camera was carried out without a dispersion corrector.

Well, a little exotic – Jupiter through the filter ZWO methane CH4. Interesting narrowband filter operating at a wavelength of 890 nm. It is noticeably darker than the ZWO 850 nm wideband IR-pass filter. I had to use the maximum gain and shutter speed of 100 milliseconds (10 fps). I also tried a shutter speed of 200 milliseconds (5 fps), but the result was noticeably worse. The duration of the video was 3 minutes.

In principle, I am satisfied with the results of the shooting. So far this is my best Jupiter in this shooting season, but I am sure that the most interesting is yet to come.

    Здорово. Работа атмосферного корректора впечатляет.
