Spiral galaxy M 81, March 31, 2019.

In March, I managed to photograph a bright galaxy in Ursa Major – M 81. This is a classic spiral galaxy, easily visible even with binoculars. The company “Meade Russia” kindly provided me for testing the MEADE LX85 8 ″ f / 5 telescope Newtonian reflector. The shooting was done with short exposures (5 seconds). The level of light pollution has become so large that the details of galaxies are simply drowning in the flare. Therefore, all hope was to stacking frames and stretch the spiral arms through processing.

M51 galaxy, March 25, 2019.

In the galaxy M51 “Whirlpool” appeared an interesting star – AT2019ABN. This is a possible supernova, or “imposter”. The star has already dropped the outer part of the shell, but the nuclear reactions are still burning. It is possible that in a few tens of days its magnitude will increase by 2-4. At the moment, its magnitude in the R-filter is about 16.5m. In principle, it is available for shooting from an aperture of 100 mm or more. I recommend astrophotographers to take pictures of this star – the data may have scientific value, and there is a great chance to photograph a supernova explosion.
