Plössl eyepieces are one of the most popular eyepieces among astronomy enthusiasts. They are inexpensive and have a relatively wide field of view (about 50 degrees). I received a Svbony SV131 eyepiece with a focal length of 32 mm and a mounting diameter of 1.25 inches for review. This is a four-lens eyepiece made according to the Plössl design.

The eyepiece is supplied in a small package. The set includes an eyepiece and two protective covers. There is no damage or defects. The eyecup is rubber, folding, 2 positions, removable. The height of the unfolded eyecup is 12.4 mm.
The weight of the eyepiece in the box with lids is 148.8 grams.
Weight without lids – 108 grams.
Weight without lids – 105 grams.
The length of the eyepiece with covers and a folded eyecup (or without covers and with an unfolded eyecup) is 80 mm.
Case diameter – 40 mm.
The diameter of the skirt is 31.6 mm, there is a groove to protect it from accidental falling out of the focuser.
Skirt length – 21.7 mm.
Inside the skirt there is a thread with a diameter of 27.9 mm for a light filter.
The diameter of the eye lens is 24.8 mm, it is recessed by 7.4 mm relative to the folded eyecup and 6 mm relative to the removed eyecup. The coating is green, all surfaces bordering the air are coated. There are dull, colorless highlights from glued lenses. The measured field of view is larger than stated – approximately 51 degrees.
The measured eye relief is approximately 23.6 mm.
The skirt can be unscrewed – the field diaphragm size is 27.5 mm.
The transmission test showed that there was no color distortion.
A test with a 76mm f9.2 reflex telescope showed that the eyepiece had noticeable pincushion distortion. The contrast is high. Sharpness across the entire field is good. With faster telescopes (f5), field sharpness may be worse. The eye relief is sufficient for observation with glasses, even with the eyecup unfolded.
Summary
Well made Plössl eyepiece with full coating. Recommend!
